Aviation is facing shortages, especially with respect to security, services provided to passengers, and engineering. In the first project period (16 August 2013–15 August 2015), the companies participating in the Sectoral Plan employed 448 security staff, 192 staff providing services to passengers and travellers, 42 aircraft technicians and 11 employees in aviation logistics and other areas. In the second project period (16 February 2015–15 February 2017), they will employ 56 security staff, 148 staff providing services to passengers and travellers, 42 (aircraft) technicians and 11 employees in aviation logistics and other areas.
This means that new staff will have to be trained to meet labour needs. Specifically, in terms of recruitment for security services and passenger services, it is a challenge to find personnel that will meet the requirements imposed by AIVD. In addition, many companies impose a requirement regarding the maximum journey time from home to work. It is expected that it will become increasingly difficult to fill vacancies when the Dutch economy picks up again.
The Measure proposed by the Action Plan: creating apprenticeships, ensuring intake of young people.
